Stolen Library Book Returned After 145 Years

A book stolen by a Civil War soldier has been returned to Virginia’s Washington and Lee University, 145 years after he pilfered it. The University waived the overdue book fee, which at a dollar a day, would have totaled over $52,000.

The books are called “History in the War of the Peninsula and in the South of France” from the year 1807 to the year 1814.
