About “We Never Danced Cheek to Cheek”
Hawthorne’s new release We Never Danced Cheek to Cheek: The Young Kurt Vonnegut in Indianapolis and Beyond by Majie Failey is a journey through the life of this member of the Class of 1940—with all of its carefree existence and its abrupt graduation into war. This book by one of Kurt’s lifelong, closest friends digs deeply into intimate moments, days, and years of the famous writer’s youth. Here are stories and photos never before seen from scrapbooks, issues of the Shortridge Echo where Kurt was an editor, childhood art and writing pieces, journals from his Owls Club road trips to the far west and Florida and insights into his family. And beyond high school, this is the story of the consistent, kind concern of this Pulitzer-Prize winning author for his old friends, the support he gave as the Class of ’40 all grew older, and bittersweet moments as he himself confided his concerns over career and aging to his friends.

Why Indianapolis?

According to Kurt Vonnegut:

“All my jokes are Indianapolis. All my attitudes are Indianapolis. My adenoids are Indianapolis. If I ever severed myself from Indianapolis, I would be out of business. What people like about me is Indianapolis.” —Kurt Vonnegut, 1986

“Where is home? I’ve wondered where home is, and I realized, it’s not Mars or someplace like that, it’s Indianapolis when I was nine years old. I had a brother and a sister, a cat and a dog, and a mother and a father and uncles and aunts. And there’s no way I can get there again.” — Kurt Vonnegut, 2005

About “Coming Back Stronger”

When a potentially career-ending shoulder injury left quarterback Drew Brees without a team and faced with the daunting task of having to learn to throw a football all over again, coaches around the NFL wondered, would he ever come back? After Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, leaving 85% of the city under water, many wondered, would the city ever come back? And with their stadium transformed into a makeshift refugee camp, forcing the Saints to play their entire 2005 season on the road, people questioned, would the Saints ever come back? It takes a special person to turn adversity into success and despair into hope—yet that is exactly what Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees has done—and with the weight of an entire city on his shoulders.

Coming Back Stronger is the ultimate comeback story, not only of one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks, but also of a city and a team that many had all but given up on. Brees’ inspiring message of hope and encouragement proves that with enough faith, determination, and heart, you can overcome any obstacle life throws your way and not only come back, but come back stronger.

*6/19/10 3:00 PM at Costco – South Fern Street. Arlington, VA.

DeAngelo Eugene Hall (born November 19, 1983 in Chesapeake, Virginia) is an American football cornerback for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons eighth overall in the 2004 NFL Draft. He played college football at Virginia Tech.
A two-time Pro Bowl selection with the Falcons, Hall also played for the Oakland Raiders.

DeAngelo Hall

Early years
Hall attended Deep Creek High School in Chesapeake, Virginia, where he lettered in high school football, basketball and in track and field.

Football
As a junior at Deep Creek, Hall averaged 9.8 yards a carry as a running back and had seven interceptions as a cornerback. He was chosen as the district offensive and defensive player of the year and was a first-team pick as a defensive back on the All-Tidewater team.
As a senior, Hall scored 30 touchdowns and rushed for over 1,300 yards while averaging ten yards per carry. He also intercepted nine passes, posted over 100 tackles and had 16 tackles for loss. During his senior season, Hall helped Deep Creek to the state AAA Division Six championship game.
After the season, Hall earned all-district player of the year honors and was named to the all-district team as a running back, defensive back and return man. He was also named Tidewater Player of the Year and the Norfolk Sports Club Player of the Year. The Associated Press picked him as a first-team Group AAA defensive back, and he was ranked the No. 2 player in Virginia by The Roanoke Times.

Personal
Hall was not cited after his pit bulls attacked a Lawrenceville, Georgia man while the man was walking his dogs. The attack happened after Hall left the dogs with his brother, Tyrone Hall, a former Chicago Bears back-up fullback. The victim and his dog were treated for injuries and released.
He has advocated for the passage of the FIT Kids Act, federal legislation that would require school districts to report on students’ physical activity and to give youngsters health and nutritional information.

Brian Mitchell

Brian Keith Mitchell (born August 18, 1968) is a former American football running back and return specialist in the National Football League. He was originally drafted by the Washington Redskins in the fifth round (130th overall) of the 1990 NFL Draft. He played college football at Southwestern Louisiana where he was a quarterback.
Mitchell also played for the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. He is currently second on the NFL’s all-time list in total yardage with 23,330 yards. His 13 special teams touchdowns are also an NFL record. His nine punt return touchdowns are second behind Eric Metcalf (10).

Washington Redskins
As a rookie, during a Monday Night Football game that came to be known as “The Body Bag Game”, Mitchell had to be subbed in as quarterback after the Philadelphia Eagles knocked the Redskins’ starting and backup quarterbacks out of the game. Mitchell went 3-for-5 for 40 yards passing.
During his second season with the Redskins, Mitchell led the NFL in punt return yards (600) and punt return touchdowns (two), helping his team to an appearance in Super Bowl XXVI, where Washington defeated the Buffalo Bills 37-24.
Mitchell continued to play for the Redskins until 1999, leading the NFL in punt return average(14.1) and touchdowns (two) in 1994, and making a Pro Bowl selection in 1995 .He also led the league in combined yards every season from 1994 through 1996, and again in 1998. He is one of only two players to lead the league in that statistical category at least four times. The other is Hall of Famer Jim Brown, who did it five times.[1]
Mitchell was released following the 1999 season with the arrival of a new owner, Dan Snyder.

Legacy
Mitchell is the NFL’s second all-time leader in total yardage, second only to Jerry Rice with 23,330 yards, thanks in large part to his 14,014 yards from kickoff returns and his 4,999 punt return yards. Both are NFL records. He also rushed for 1,967 yards on 388 carries (avg. 5.1 rushing yards), caught 255 passes for 2,336 yards, recovered 20 fumbles for 14 return yards, and scored 29 touchdowns (four kickoff returns, nine punt returns, 12 rushing, and four receiving). His 13 special teams touchdowns are also an NFL record. His nine punt return touchdowns are second behind Eric Metcalf (10).
Brian Mitchell also holds the NFL record for most combined yards by any one player against a single opponent: 3,076 all-purpose yards against the Dallas Cowboys
He is also one of only four players to record four seasons of over 2,000 total yards, (the others being Marshall Faulk, Dante Hall and Tiki Barber) and missed out on a fifth by only five yards.[citation needed]
He was inducted into the Washington Redskins Ring of Fame at FedEx Field during the 2009 season.

Alison Margaret Arngrim (born January 18, 1962; New York, New York, U.S.) is an American actress and stand-up comedian.

Arngrim is possibly best known as a former child star, playing the role of Nellie Oleson in the NBC television series Little House on the Prairie. She appeared in guest roles on television series like The Love Boat and Fantasy Island. She was also a frequent panelist on the short-lived NBC game show Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour. She made a comedy record album in which she portrayed first daughter Amy Carter.

She currently does charity work in addition to performance. She focuses on AIDS issues and on child abuse, speaking frequently for and lobbying with the group PROTECT. In 2004, she came out as an incest survivor on Larry King Live. Although she refused to name her attacker, she clarified that it was neither of her parents. She also revealed that the attacker was apprehended, but the courts were unable to prepare charges as the statute of limitations had run out.

Arngrim’s father, Thor Arngrim, was a well-known Hollywood manager. Her mother, Norma MacMillan, was a well-known voice actress, who provided the voices for characters on Casper the Friendly Ghost, Gumby, Davey and Goliath, and many other beloved animated programs. Her brother Stefan Arngrim was also a child actor.

Arngrim married musician Robert Paul Schoonover on November 6, 1993. They live in Los Angeles.

Arngrim tied with Danielle Spencer (‘Dee’ on What’s Happening!!) for “Character Most in Need of a Time-out” award on the 2006 TV Land Awards for her role on Little House on The Prairie.

In one of her stand-up routines, she described playing Nellie on Little House on The Prairie as “Like having PMS for seven years.”[citation needed] On May 26, 2007, she made an appearance at the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival signing autographs.

She originally auditioned for the role of Laura Ingalls, and later Mary Ingalls, on Little House on The Prairie, but received the role of Nellie Oleson. Alison Arngrim regularly keeps in contact with her friend Melissa Gilbert, who played Laura Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie.

After her father’s death on June 23, 2006, Spelling was anticipated to inherit a sizable portion of her father’s $500 million estate. The estate was to be divided primarily between Spelling, her brother Randy and her mother Candy. Spelling’s mother was the estate executor. At the time, Spelling and her mother were estranged and it was reported that Spelling inherited just $800,000. Her brother, who was not estranged from his mother, also received $800,000.
Spelling gave birth to her first child, Liam Aaron McDermott (“Aaron” after her late father) on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Cedars-Sinai Hospital via emergency caesarean section. Reportedly, her mother was in the delivery room when Spelling gave birth. It has been reported that Candy Spelling established a $10 million trust fund for her first grandchild. On Monday, June 9, 2008, Spelling and her husband welcomed their second child together, by caesarean section, a daughter named Stella Doreen McDermott (“Doreen” after Dean’s late mother). Both children were delivered by Dr. Jason Rothbart.
In July 2007, Spelling became a minister to marry a gay couple at Chateau La Rue. A tape of the ceremony was shown on Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood.
Amid rumors that there was trouble in their marriage Tori and Dean remarried. They renewed their vows. on May 8, 2010 in Beverly Hills among their friends and family. Dean gave her a custom designed Darkened Diamond Eternity Band by Neil Lane and she wore a white wedding dress.

Deborah Ann Ryan (born May 13, 1993) is an American teen actress, singer, voice actor and screenwriter. Ryan is best known for portraying Bailey Pickett in the Disney Channel Original Series The Suite Life on Deck, which is the spin-off/sequel to The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Ryan started acting in professional theatres at the age of seven; in 2007 she appeared in the Barney & Friends straight-to-DVD film Barney: Let’s Go to the Firehouse and then was discovered in a nationwide search by Disney. She is also known for appearing in the 2008 feature film The Longshots as Edith and will star in the independent film What If…, which is set for a 2010 release.

Early life
Ryan was born in Alabama. Ryan is a Christian; she has performed in churches, theater performance groups and talent competitions. Ryan’s father was in the military, so she often moved to different places in Europe. Ryan started performing in professional theaters at the age of seven on an American base in Germany. She found she loved acting. At the time, Ryan was fluent in German.
She returned to the United States at the age of 10 in 2003 and was raised in Texas. She dreamed of acting full-time. In a 2009 People Magazine interview, she described herself as a “nerd” in school. Ryan was bullied in middle school for being a mascot and in the school’s chess club.
Ryan has an older brother, Chase (who is older than her by approximately two years). He is a guitarist and vocalist. In a March 2009 interview, Ryan said her older brother is one of her role models.

Personal life

In a 2009 People Magazine interview, Ryan stated her Suite Life co-star, Brenda Song is her acting idol. In a March 2009 interview, Ryan revealed she also looks up to Meryl Streep, Ryan claims Streep “is so profoundly thought-provoking and life-changing.” Ryan also said her other role models include Anne Hathaway, Rachel McAdams and Tobey Maguire. She also said, “I love jazz! I love singing it. I also love country! My brother loves rock, he also has this chill Jason Mraz-like style. So basically, my answer is: jazz-country-rock-alternative? I have no idea! But I honestly would love to make country music.”
Ryan has spent time at the Ronald McDonald House and has help raise money for the kids in need.
Ryan is involved in Disney’s Friends for Change. She was featured in a commercial on the Disney Channel. The charity helps explain how kids can help preserve the planet and invites them to go to the Friends for Change website to register and pledge, offering them the chance to help choose how Disney will invest $1 million in environmental programs.

* 6/16/10 12:30 PM at the Bryant Park Reading Room – Bryant Park. New York, NY.

Kelly Cutrone (born November 13, 1965) is a fashion publicist and the founder of the public relations, branding and marketing firm People’s Revolution.
Cutrone is known for her no-nonsense approach to the industry, and her brutal straight-talking. She has said that she and her People’s Revolution partners mute their personae somewhat for the cameras.

Career

People’s Revolution
Cutrone’s agency has produced shows for artists like Alexandre Herchcovitch, Rachel Comey, As Four, Jeremy Scott, Patricia Field, Atil Kutoglu, Marisa Ribisi, Alvin Valley, Jennifer Nicholson, Nicky Hilton, Paco Rabanne and Vivienne Westwood. People’s Revolution currently represents 46 clients, including Longchamp, Vivienne Westwood and Sass & Bide.
On September 11, 2002, the agency set the record for producing the most shows in one day (which is five) during New York Fashion Week. This is mainly because Cutrone was the only person willing to produce shows on the first anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Reality television
Cutrone has appeared on three MTV reality shows: True Life, The Hills and The City. She served as the employer of The Hills former cast member Lauren Conrad and the mentor and employer of The City cast member (and former The Hills cast member) Whitney Port.[5][6] She has avowed that her role in the shows is unscripted: “I can only talk about the parts that they film with us, but it’s totally unscripted. There’s always some sort of drama here, so we don’t have to make that up. MTV is really happy about our agency – it’s full of things going on. It’s like, um, OK, we have an opportunity to go to Coachella to film a Jeremy Scott party at Frank Sinatra’s house. That’s just how we roll.”[7]
On February 1, 2010, the NBC Universal-owned channel Bravo began to air Kell on Earth. The show focuses specifically on Cutrone and People’s Revolution.

Memoir
In February 2010, HarperOne, an imprint of HarperCollins, released Cutrone’s memoir, If You Have to Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You.

Personal life
At 21, she married Andy Warhol’s protégé, Ronnie Cutrone.[3] She has a daughter with Ilario Calvo, Ava Cutrone-Calvo (born 2002).
