About Collecting Presidential Autographs

Many collectors choose to build their library around the presidents. Collecting presidential autographs can be one of the best thrills but at the same time can be quite tedious. The fact of the matter is, each presidential signature has its own story about the uniqueness of the presidents’ expression.

This is going beyond just the technical lines of the autograph itself. For example, the way in which a person presents their signature may be an insight into who they are as a person. This is precisely why collecting presidential autographs can be such a rewarding hobby.

Signed Limited Presidential publications are usually high quality and are produced to last generations. Many of them are unique leather bound editions with ornate decorations, gilded page edges, and other fancy bindings that you can expect. They are quite the luxurious and magnificent books that make the perfect gift for the historian and scholar.

For more information or to find a unique selection of our signed presidential limited editions, please click on any one of the presidents below:

Straight from skcollector.com:

Hi Folks, I’m thrilled to announce pre-ordering for the new Under the Dome Slipcase. The case is made from a rich reddish/brown leather – (yes genuine leather not synthetic). It features a graphic of the title on the front and spine of the case and author on the side and will cost $29.95 -This case will fit all US editions of Under the Dome: You can place your order on the Buy Slipcases page.

Signed Limited edition

Gift Edition

1st trade edition

One of the major issues with this case was how to deal with the pack of cards included in the gift/limited edition while also figuring out how to get the trade edition (that didn’t come with any cards) to also fit without making two separate cases. Here’s how the design works:

For Gift/Limited Edition – The case will feature a removable “shelf” with a ribbon, you pull on the ribbon and the cards and shelf will slide out as one, you can then remove the book….Because the shelf is removable you can keep the book in the shrinkwrap if you want and just not use the shelf.

For 1st Trade edition – The case will feature a “spacer” wrapped in the same leather material as the rest of the case, This can sit either at the top or bottom of the case and is thick enough to fill in the height difference. I’m looking at putting a strip of double sided tape on it, along with a wax backing so IF YOU CHOOSE you can permanently affix the spacer to the case, or let it slide in and out like the shelf…

The trade edition is also a little narrower, we may just let the book be a little loose in the case or try to include something to help tighten it up on the inner part of the case, that’s still being worked out.

All cases will come with both a spacer and a shelf so you can use the case for either type of book.

Thanks much,

Tomas Krynsky

Update: The survey is now closed. The interview will be published May 15th so be sure to visit again at that time. Five lucky people will also win a $50 gift certificate.

I have some exciting news to tell you about.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn about and ask questions of Hans-Ake Lilja, founder of the most viewed on-line Stephen King fan based website, Lilja’s Library. In the process, you’ll also have a chance to win a gift certificate at our store.

Lilja’s Library has brought us the latest breaking news from around the Stephen King universe for over 10 years. Stephen King’s official website has praised it as “A Fan Site with a wealth of information.”

Hans-Ake Lilja has interviewed the man himself on a couple of occasions, as well as others from around the publishing and entertainment business. Lilja frequently writes book reviews, and he has a new book of his own set to be published later this fall.

Hans-Ake Lilja with Stephen King

So here’s the deal.

The interview will be in the first week in May and will be published on this blog May 15th. I have already prepared some questions for him, but this is the good part – you can ask your questions too.

We will pick 5 of your most creative questions and include those in the interview. Those who submit the questions that I choose will receive a $50 gift certificate to use in our Stephen King bookstore.

So, if you could ask Lilja anything you wanted, what would it be?

Submit your questions for Lilja

Question submissions will be open for another week so don’t miss your chance. Thank you for your participation and good luck!

If you’re a Stephen King collector, you don’t want to miss this. We just announced a brand new contest to give away a First Edition of “The Stand”, housed in a beautiful black tray case. Here are the details:

“The Stand” & Tray Case

Play the Stephen King trivia contest for a chance to win a true NF(near fine) First Edition of “The Stand” (1978) housed in a beautiful new tray case. This is the black style of this case not currently available for sale anywhere. If you’re the winner, you can opt for the white version instead. Prize est. value: $500. There are 5 questions. All the answers can be found somewhere in our store.

Drawing is May 1st, 2009.

Photo of the actual prize:

Description

From skcollector.com:

This case features a white faux leather grain pattern with the title in bold black text and the author stamped in red foil. The font was selected to match the font used on the book Dust Jacket. There’s an oval opening in the front that allows a portion of the beautifully designed DJ to be seen when enclosed in the case. A three sided inner box allows for very easy removal of the book with no excess tightness. The case is shut via hidden neodymium magnets -giving a very satisfying snap when closed.

Multiple prototypes were made (and scrapped) to get the design just right. From the materials used, to the shape and size of the oval window, to the number and size of magnets used to shut the case with the correct force while keeping it easy to open when desired. I’m confident you’ll love this case!
